Summer job: Cleaning of sailing yachts!
Important: Please contact us via email first: email@example.com
Looking for a summer job for one or several days a week, 1st of May to 30 September 2019?
For the upcoming season we are looking for one or several yacht cleaners.
Seen the somewhat irregular occupation of our yachts, we are looking for cleaners who can work on a standby / on-call base. Working days mostly will be Monday and Friday: On those days clients come back with the yachts around 11 am and others arrive in the afternoon, around 4 pm, to start their sailing holiday. During busy weeks, Wednesday and / or Thursday might become working days as well. That usually happens when we have sailing events or more flexible arrival / departure times for our guests.
You will work on a peaceful, friendly and large yachting marina. Lots of fresh air and beautiful, open spaces. All of our yachts are located at one jetty, near our office. Working times will be 08.30 am to 5 pm.
What has to be cleaned?
Modern sailing yachts, between 9 and 12 metres long. Featuring a maximum of 3 cabins and one sanitary room per yacht. Normal case: The yachts come back at 11 am in the morning and have to be prepared for the next guests who will arrive at 4 pm the same day. During less busy weeks, arrival of the following guests can be one or several days later. Pat of the cleaning tasks also will involve ironing pillowcases and kitchen towels, to be then placed inside the yachts.
Of course we will give you a careful instruction for this job. Cleaning a sailing yacht is quite different from, say, a bungalow holiday home: A sailing yacht has many little spots and corners which must not be forgotten while cleaning: A clean yacht is a safe yacht! Our experience says this: A complete cleaning of one yacht with 2 cabins usually takes around 2h inside and an additional 1,5 h outside at deck.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for cleaners who are highly self-organized, with attention to details in their work.
And we have no whatsoever preference in terms of age, gender, passport or external looks (a normal neat appearance of course is essential since you’ll be seeing our guests quite often, near the yachts or around our office). Likewise, which religion you have (or not have) is none of our business. What is important, however – the following three points:
1) You must be able to swim, or alternatively, be willing to wear an automatic life vest at all times during your work with the yachts. Reason: You will move on yachts which are in the water and might thus move around a bit. And although it happens extremely seldom, it could happen that you fall into the water. In such a case, by swimming you would get to the stern of the ship where there is a fixed swimming ladder. An automatic life vest will at least keep you afloat on the water surface so that people can see and help you, no matter if you swim or not. And of course we will have available such a (certified) life vest for you when you come working with us.
2) It is very important during the summer months June, July and August respectively that you are physically able to do the cleaning work, even with warm weather. In other words: This job unfortunately is not suitable for anyone who, for whatever reason, is not allowed or willing to drink or eat for days in a row.
3) Internal cleaning of our yachts regularly also entails cleaning of the hatches and some bigger fridges aboard. To reach these easily and safely, your body length should be at least 1,60 m. And no, it is not a safe option to use little stairs or ladders aboard a (slightly) moving yacht.
Flevo Sailing is located on the premises of Flevo Marina, North of Lelystad. To get here you’ll need a car, a scooter or a bike. To date there is no bus or train station nearby the marina.
